Lake City, MI - Merritt Speedway officials are pleased to announce the national touring World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series will make a return trip in 2017. The two-day late season special will again be presented by Coopersville, Michigan’s Keyser Manufacturing.

Moving from last season’s Friday and Saturday format, the 2017 edition will see Saturday and Sunday races, August 26 and 27. All of Merritt’s divisions including the UMP Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Lightning Sprints, Pro Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Four Cylinders will race in support of the World of Outlaws, split between the two days of racing.

“We are excited for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series return to Merritt Speedway in 2017,” said Series President Tom Deery. “The facility has made tremendous strides toward maximizing the total racing experience for both drivers and fans alike. The late-August show adds value to our schedule of great facilities throughout the East Coast and Midwest regions.”

For the second consecutive season, Keyser Manufacturing will partner with Michigan’s Premier Dirt Track to bring the outlaws to the state of Michigan for their one and only appearance. Keyser Manufacturing offers a wide range of innovative and cutting edge products that are developed for the racing industry. Prided on forward thinking, Keyser continuously upgrades and maintains their vast product line. With their huge 140,000 square foot facility located just north of Grand Rapids, Michigan, they are able to house Integra Shocks and Springs, OMI ATV Products, Keyser’s Pro Blend, Demo Derby Masters, and Keyser’s Port City Racing all under one roof.

“We are looking forward to having the Second Annual Keyser’s Great Lakes Shootout at Merritt Speedway again in 2017. This is a great weekend event for all of the racing fans in Northern Michigan,” stated Anna Walker, Marketing Coordinator at Keyser Manufacturing.

In 2016 eventual Keyser Manufacturing UMP Late Model Champion Eric Spangler captured the Friday night feature event victory, becoming just one of four total non-tour regulars to get a win all year. 2016 series champion Josh Richards returned on night two, to get one of his incredible 18 total wins on the year in front of a great crowd.

Merritt Speedway, Michigan’s Premier Dirt Track, hosts race events from May until September, every Saturday night. Specials sprinkled throughout the calendar including new founded events and longstanding traditions will again take place in 2017, with the full schedule due out soon.
