Weather Turns as Qualifying Begins
With the sun shining brightly over Merritt Speedway all day long this past Saturday, Promoters Steve and Stacey Potter pressed forward in hopes of running their eleventh consecutive event of the 2013 season with the Michigan Traditional Sprints as the headliner. Just as the Super 8 Modified division took to the track for qualifying, Mother Nature stepped in and put an end to it all. Rich Robinson Jr. had posted the quickest time trial lap of five competitors with a lap of 14.85 on what was shaping up to be another very fast track prepared by the Merritt Speedway staff. All cars in line for qualifying were sent onto the track in an attempt to save it, but the rains persisted and forced the cancellation of the night’s events.
Thanks to all that came out to support Michigan’s premier dirt track and we hope to see you all this coming Saturday for a full show with the UMP Late Models, Super 8 UMP Modifieds, Hardcore Performance Pro Trucks, WLLZ TV-12 Pro Streets and Jimmy’s Collision Factory Stocks.
See ya at the track
